Adoption
It is very important to think carefully about adopting, every time an animal is rehomed it suffers stress in the same way that we do. The animal doesn't understand why it has lost familiar smells, favourite toys, voices it recognised, humans it loved, it doesn't understand that you've found that they are too expensive or nibble fingers or give someone an allergy. They don't understand rehoming - they only understand that they are frightened. None of us can see into the future but wherever possible we are looking for forever homes.
Look at our cats and see who takes your fancy but be aware that your chosen cat may not always be available and there may be other cats not yet on the website - email us below stating your name, a bit about yourself, the name of the cat. Please ensure you a contact number so that a volunteer can call you.
Sadly vets have now increased their charges for microchipping and we now ask for a donation of £80 per cat and £85 per kitten, which includes neutering, worming, flea treatment and microchipping. We are always very grateful for a donation above the specified amount, as this fee does not cover our costs as you appreciate rescue animals often need several vets visits before they are healthy and ready to be homed. Sometimes the cat you see was in a very sorry state when they arrived.
Not in a position to adopt permanently - could you foster?
We are currently looking to expand our extremely important network of foster homes. We help a broad spectrum of cats; from tiny kittens to golden oldies. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our foster carers. Many cats don’t adapt well to life in a rescue centre, it takes the warmth of a home for them to show their true colours.
Being a foster carer can at times be difficult, as a cat lover it can be sad to see the condition that some cats arrive in. However, after a little TLC, you will also get to see a miraculous transformation and this is so very rewarding! It can also be a challenge to say goodbye to our furry friends, but you can take comfort in the fact you have set them up for a happy and safe future.
We are seeking homes that have the space, time and ideally previous experience of cats to join our super squad of carers. You would be matched with a suitable cat and have the full support and expertise of a fantastic team helping you every step of the way.
We will contact you to discuss what it involved, your home set up and why you would like to become a fosterer. Then we will do a home visit - please don't worry about washing the dishes and dusting, we are only interested in where the animal will be living and that they will be safe. We will ask you to complete a fosterer form; this is your agreement with the charity for the animal in your care.
Please contact us if you would like to discuss becoming a foster home by completing the form below or emailing: [email protected]
